If during your consultation with the GP it is suggested that you need to be referred to see a Consultant for further investigations, this would generally be done through Sentinel Healthcare. This is a very valuable service which allows people much more choice and flexibility.
Once your doctor has decided to refer you, he/she should give you an information leaflet which will have all the details you need concerning your referral. He/she will insert your NHS number onto this document should you need to contact Sentinel at any point – hopefully this won’t be the case!
Sentinel will call you within five days of your referral offering you the next available appointment convenient to you and a choice of locations. Please make sure that we have all your current details to enable Sentinel to contact you as speedily as possible.
