111 is the NHS non-emergency number. It’s fast, easy and free. Call 111 and speak to a highly trained adviser, supported by healthcare professionals. They will ask you a series of questions to assess your symptoms and immediately direct you to the best medical care for you. You can also access NHS 111 on-line.
NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

In case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 999.

Routine (Non-Urgent) Appointments

To book a routine, non-urgent appointment, please contact us on 01822 613517. Appointments are available either face-to-face or by telephone, depending on your preference and clinical need.

We also highly recommend completing one of our online contact forms, which can be found here.

When you get in touch, please don’t be surprised if our Care Navigation Team asks you for some additional information. This is to help them safely prioritise your request and ensure you are offered the most appropriate appointment or advice as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us deliver the best possible care.

Urgent Same-Day Advice

If you have an urgent medical concern that cannot wait, please call the surgery as close to 08:30 as possible.

Your request will be triaged, and if appropriate, the duty doctor will call you back within the hour. If necessary, the doctor will arrange for you to be seen the same day based on clinical need.

Nursing Appointments

Nursing appointments are typically available up to six weeks in advance. We offer both telephone and face-to-face appointments for long-term health conditions. Patients can book appointments in the following ways:

  • Online: Use the NHS App or your preferred online services app to book nursing appointments such as blood tests, cervical smears, vaccinations, and long-term condition reviews.

  • By Phone: Call us on 01822 613517 and speak with a member of our team, who will help arrange a suitable appointment.

  • In Person: Visit the Practice and speak with one of our Care Navigators for assistance.

  • Self-Booking Link: If you’re due for an annual review, you may receive a text from us with a booking link. Please use the link within seven days to schedule your appointment at a convenient time.

Home Visits

The surgery provides home visits for patients who are housebound or too unwell to attend the practice.

  • Routine Home Visits: To request a routine visit, please call us on 01822 613517.

  • Urgent Home Visits: If you need an urgent visit, contact us as early in the day as possible so we can allocate a clinician to attend.

Our usual visiting hours are between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.

Please click here to find more information on patients who are housebound.

Cancel and Appointment

If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer the slot to another patient in need.

Appointments can be cancelled in the following ways:

  • By phone: Call us on 01822 613517

  • Clicking here

  • Online: Cancel through the Patient Access system or the NHS App

We understand that sometimes appointments are missed by accident. However, if you are aware in advance that you cannot attend, notifying us promptly helps us manage our appointments more effectively.

Each month, a significant amount of valuable clinical time is lost due to “Did Not Attend” (DNA) cases. By cancelling your appointment when necessary, you help reduce waiting times and allow us to provide care to more patients.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us improve access to care for everyone.

Our DNA Policy can be found by clicking here

Saturdays

The surgery is open on alternate Saturdays from 08:00 to 12:00 for pre-booked appointments only. These appointments are ideal for patients who may find it difficult to attend during regular weekday hours.

Please note that we do not accept incoming phone calls on Saturdays, and our phone lines remain closed. If you need to speak with us, please contact the surgery during our normal weekday opening hours.

Walk-In Policy

Tavyside does not operate a routine walk-in service. If you have an urgent medical concern, please:

  • Call us on 01822 613517

  • Attend your local Minor Injuries Unit, if appropriate

  • Dial 999 in a life-threatening emergency

If your condition requires same-day attention, our clinical team will assess your need and, if necessary, book you into an appropriate same-day appointment.

Group Clinics

At Tavyside, we are pleased to offer group clinics as an alternative way to support patients with certain long-term health conditions.

What are group clinics?
Group clinics (also known as group consultations) are sessions where patients with similar health conditions meet together with a clinician or healthcare professional. These sessions provide a supportive environment to discuss your condition, receive personalised advice, learn from others’ experiences, and ask questions.

Group clinics can offer:

  • More time with healthcare professionals

  • Peer support from others managing the same condition

  • Practical tips and shared learning

  • A chance to better understand your condition and how to manage it

We currently offer group clinics for patients with Type 2 diabetes. These sessions help you understand your diagnosis, reduce your risk of developing diabetes, and make informed lifestyle choices.
