Housebound

The NHS defines a housebound patient as someone who is unable to leave their home or surrounding area due to physical or mental health issues. This can include:

  • Limited mobility
  • No access to transport
  • Lack of support to get around
  • Being restricted to living in a certain part of their home
  • Older people
  • People with long-term health conditions or disabilities
  • Long periods of inactivity
  • Sitting or lying in the same position for a long time

Patients are not eligible for home visits if they can leave their home on their own or with minimal assistance. Minimal assistance would be described as a person who can leave their own home and travel to a clinic appointment in a vehicle such as a personal car, taxi or public transport adapted for their use or not and with or without the use of a wheelchair either by themselves or with an escort. .

Home Visits

If you require a routine home visit, please contact the surgery on 01822 613517.

If you require an urgent home visit, we ask that you contact us as early in the day as possible so we are able to allocate a clinician to attend your home.

Our usual visiting times are between 13:00-15:00.

Home Visits (vaccinations)

Every Autumn, we offer home visits for patients wishing to receive the Covid, Flu or Pneumococcal vaccination, as long as they fall into the categories as detailed above. We do ask, where possible, if a family member or friend can bring you into the surgery, that this offer is taken up to help us achieve the vaccination programme in the quickest time possible, to ensure all our patients get vaccinated and protected against these viruses before the winter months.

If you are able to get a lift to the surgery, but would struggle getting into the Practice, we can offer the vaccination/s in your car.

Outside of this time period, we can offer the Pneumococcal, RSV and Shingles vaccine at home. Please contact reception on 01822 613517 to enquire.
