Tests and Results

Test results are typically ready within 5 working days after the date of your test. However, this time frame may vary depending on the type of test conducted and the complexity of the analysis required. Once your results are available, we will review them thoroughly.

If your results are normal, you may not hear from us directly, as no further action is required. However, if your results indicate an abnormality or require further attention, we will promptly contact you. This contact may be in the form of a phone call, a text message, or a letter, depending on the urgency and your preferred method of communication.

In the event of abnormal results, we will discuss the next steps with you, which may include arranging a follow-up appointment, additional tests, or initiating any necessary treatment. Please ensure your contact details are up to date to avoid delays in communication. If you have any concerns or questions in the meantime, feel free to contact your GP surgery.

Types of Test

We provide both fasting and non-fasting blood tests daily, Monday to Friday. The procedure typically takes around 7 minutes to complete.

The simplest way to book your blood test is through the NHS App.

Alternatively, you can reach us at 01822 613517.

While most blood tests are ordered electronically by a healthcare professional, if you have been given a paper form for your test, please remember to bring it with you to your appointment. This is often the case when blood tests have been requested by the hospital.

ECGs are fast procedures that give valuable insight into your heart’s function. We offer both urgent and routine ECGs as recommended by a healthcare professional.

Each ECG appointment lasts 20 minutes and is available daily, with additional slots on alternate Saturdays. To book, please call 01822 613517.

Stool tests are used to analyse a sample of your stool (faeces) to help diagnose various health conditions, such as infections, digestive disorders, or other underlying issues.

Typically, your GP will provide you with a sample container and instructions on how to collect the stool sample at home. Once collected, you’ll return the sample to the surgery, where it will be sent to a lab for testing. The results are usually available within a few days to a week, depending on the nature of the test.

Your GP will discuss the results with you and explain any necessary next steps based on the findings. Stool tests are generally non-invasive and offer valuable information to help manage your health.

We only test urine when requested by a healthcare professional. If you have been asked to provide a urine sample, collection bottles are available at the Reception Desk.

Please note that our laboratory does not conduct routine pregnancy testing. For fast and reliable pregnancy tests, these can be purchased at a pharmacy.
